Frontier says Planet Zoo 2 unlocks at 3PM BST on 13 October, which is 1am Wednesday in Sydney and Melbourne. Pre-loading is meant to open at 1am Tuesday if you have pre-purchased.
Planet Zoo 2 is almost here, and the clock is not kind to us. Frontier Developments’ Release Timing post says “The game will be launching at 3PM BST on October 13.” In Australia that is 1am AEDT on Wednesday 14 October.
Brisbane gets midnight, and Perth gets 10pm on Tuesday. Those are our conversions, not Frontier’s.

Pre-loading comes first. Frontier says pre-purchasers “will be able to pre-load on Steam”, and it is “aiming” to open that from 3PM BST on 12 October. That is 1am AEDT on Tuesday 13 October, so set your download to run overnight.
The studio says “aiming”, so check Steam before you go to bed. The store page is where you pre-purchase.
Here is what it costs on Steam in Australia, with no discount on either edition:
- Planet Zoo 2: A$70.50
- Planet Zoo 2: Deluxe Edition: A$90.95
Deluxe adds the Deluxe Upgrade Pack, which brings six more animal species and exclusive animal signs. Pre-purchasers also get the Bonus Content Pack: a Toucan Eat Shop and signage, three animal donation bins and a Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall.
Check your PC before you commit. The Steam page lists Windows only, and the minimum is Windows 10 or 11, an Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, and 40 GB of storage. For graphics it asks for an RTX 2060, an RX 5600 XT or an Arc A750, with DirectX 12. An SSD is recommended.

Frontier adds a warning for Windows 10 users: “Microsoft has ended support for Windows 10 meaning we cannot guarantee ongoing compatibility.”
While you wait, Frontier has put out a video on opening your first zoo and a look at Photo Mode. Its latest Zoopedia update adds six animals: the siamang, red-eyed tree frog, Javan green magpie, grizzly bear, greater flamingo and North Sulawesi babirusa.
