AION 2’s publisher NC has restricted 4,996 accounts for botting, gold farming and economy abuse. The figure is in an Account Restrictions notice on the game’s Steam page, posted at 5pm AEDT on Sunday 11 October.
It lands six days after AION 2 went live on Steam on 5 October.

What NC says it did
The notice opens with the studio’s reasoning.
“To keep AION 2 fair for everyone, we continuously monitor in-game activity and the overall service environment. Following a thorough review, we have restricted a number of accounts found to be in violation of our Operation Policy.”
It names two kinds of conduct. The first is botting and gold farming, which it describes as the use of macros, bots or other unauthorized programs, and organised play patterns consistent with gold farming or real-money trading.
The second is economy abuse, described as abnormal trading patterns that disrupt the game economy. The action took place at 23:00 PDT on Saturday 10 October, which is 5pm AEDT on Sunday.
Players who grind hard are told they are in the clear.
“Restrictions are only applied after review, in line with the Operation Policy. Normal play, including long grinding sessions, is not affected.”
Security locks
NC separates the restrictions from a second group of accounts that were locked. It says a small number were “temporarily locked as a precaution” after it detected access from a device or connection that posed a potential security risk, such as a possible account compromise.
The notice does not say how many accounts that covers.

“A security lock is not a penalty: it protects your account and your items until the situation can be verified.”
Locked players are asked to contact Customer Support to restore access.
Appeals
Anyone who believes an account was restricted or locked in error can submit a ticket through NC’s Customer Support. The notice says “Every request is reviewed individually.”
The restrictions are filed under the Sanctions Table of the AION 2 Operation Policy, in the categories Gold Farming / Bot Operations, Use of Unauthorized Programs and Real-Money Trading (RMT). The notice does not say whether more restrictions are planned.
