Doctrine’s full kit now has names, from Eternal Scepter to his Ultimate, Deliverance. He joins the roster when Season 5 starts on 6 October, and the BlizzCon Mythic Voucher runs out the day before.
Overwatch’s next Support hero has a gameplay trailer. PlayStation posted Doctrine: New Hero Gameplay Trailer on 29 September, and Nintendo of America put up the Switch 2 version a day later. Both trailer descriptions name every part of his kit.
Doctrine heals allies and damages enemies with his Eternal Scepter, and Shrouded Momentum is the ability you use to dodge incoming fire. His Invigorating Drones go out to a single ally and give that player more attack speed and more healing.
Infuse is the one to learn first, because it adds extra power to whichever ability you use next. Infuse Shrouded Momentum and you get free flight, or infuse the next Eternal Scepter attack and it deals piercing damage. His Ultimate, Deliverance, gives your team overhealth while it reduces the maximum health of the enemy team.
Blizzard first showed him at BlizzCon on 12 September as Hero 54, “a vampire-inspired Support Hero and ally of Doomfist”. Blizzard’s BlizzCon post says his limited-time Hero Trial ran until 14 September, so this trailer is the best look you will get at him before launch. We covered the rest of that reveal in our Season 5 round-up.
Season 5, A Grim Doctrine, starts on 6 October. It also brings the Watchpoint: Grímsvötn Escort map and the Sombra and Roadhog reworks, with Sombra moving from Damage to Support.
There is one job for this week. If you have not used your BlizzCon Mythic Voucher, do it now, since you earn it by playing one game and swap it for one eligible complete Mythic bundle from Seasons 1 to 14. Blizzard says you have until 5 October to earn and redeem it. The post does not give a time zone, so do not leave it to the last night.
