A Soldier Of Napoleon’s Army, Back From The Dead
Valor Mortis has a new trailer less than two weeks before release. PlayStation posted the Gameplay Overview Trailer to YouTube on 30 September, and its description confirms the game arrives on 13 October.
The game is a first-person action soulslike from One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner. It is published by Lyrical Games and One More Level.
The player takes the role of William, a soldier of the Grande Armée who is brought back from a battlefield grave. The trailer description sums up the premise as “Rise from death as a former soldier of Napoleon’s army.”
The Europe he returns to is not the one he left. According to the Steam page, a mysterious plague now sweeps the continent, and William has been reborn with its “corrupting power pulsing through your veins.”

Combat is built on parries, dashes and finishers across a range of weapons. Supernatural powers can be channelled to strengthen attacks, and new abilities unlock along the way.
Death is part of the loop. The Steam page describes each death as “a chance to grow stronger.”
The enemies are the plague-ridden abominations of Napoleon’s Eternal Guard, in a 19th-century alternate history where historical figures are mixed with horror and the supernatural. New mobility helps the player get around them, and environmental secrets hidden in the world may improve the odds of survival.
Valor Mortis is coming to PS5 and to PC on Steam. The Australian PlayStation Store lists its release at 6pm UTC on 13 October, which is 5am AEDT on 14 October in Sydney and Melbourne.
Neither store listed an Australian price at the time of writing, and pre-orders had not opened on the Australian PlayStation Store.
