The Remaster’s latest patch is out, and it sorts out auto blade oils, runaway boats and slow dodges. On PC, Dynamic Resolution Scaling is now off unless you turn it back on.

CD PROJEKT RED posted Patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered at 11:02pm AEDT on Thursday. It follows Hotfix 5.00c, and like that hotfix it touches saves. The notes don’t say which platforms get it, so check for an update before you load in.

Start with combat. If you use Automatically Apply Blade Oils, it now works even when you didn’t switch it on in the current session. A late response on dodges is fixed, and so is Stamina draining to empty when you sprint and dodge at the same time. Geralt also stops bumping into dead enemies after an Aard finisher.

Two skills change: Exploding Shield now reflects damage, and the Synergy skill no longer shows the wrong bonus values.

Sailors, this one is for you. Boats could start moving on their own and ignore terrain collisions, and that is now fixed. Ladder animations are improved too, and Vesemir no longer repeats the same line when you cast Quen over and over.

On PC, the default for Dynamic Resolution Scaling is now off. The patch also stops presets from applying DLSS or XeSS on GPUs that don’t support them, and fixes the game sometimes picking the wrong GPU. The GTAO Quality setting no longer resets after a restart.

There are visual adjustments as well, covering bloom, tone mapping, character lighting, ray tracing and path tracing. CD PROJEKT RED has also fixed an issue that could affect save data, and added measures for saves that were already hit.

Two things to expect when you boot up. The policy consent screen will appear again because of backend issues, so you’ll need to confirm your choices once more. And if you claimed the Fire Horse and other Twitch drops, check the chest in Vizima. A fix means My Rewards and Twitch or Bilibili drops now show up there even if you opened it before, and some items may be duplicated. CD PROJEKT RED says to consider them a bonus.

The full list, including UI fixes, is in the patch notes. Then grab your swords and head back to the Continent.
