Six Fixes For The Remastered Upgrade Land On Steam
CD Projekt Red has released Hotfix 5.00c for the Steam version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, two days after the free upgrade went live.
The patch notes list six changes. The first fixes an issue where the game could not be saved or loaded if the path to the Documents folder contained special characters.
A second fix addresses voiceover audio that could become significantly quieter than other in-game audio after moving through the pause menu tabs.
Velen gets various visual adjustments, with tweaks to Bloom, vegetation lighting, saturation and Path Tracing lighting.
The hotfix also reverts a change that caused significant performance and visual issues with HairWorks enabled for some users.
Two smaller fixes round out the list. Marketing telemetry settings now save properly, and the Classic (1.32) version of the game can be launched again.
The notes close with a line from the studio: “Once again, thank you for your patience as we continue investigating the issues you report.”
The Remastered upgrade arrived on 29 September. Anyone who bought any version of the game on Steam can upgrade for free, and the update includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions for all owners.
That launch also reset every player’s skill points, as part of a new skill tree in which each skill has three ranks.
The pre-launch post listed other headline changes. The game now has native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading, Ray-Traced Local Shadows and textures and models updated from The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project.
Equipment can also be Reforged to change its appearance without affecting its stats. Only the master craftsmen Yoana and Hattori offer the service, and Blood and Wine dyes carry over to the reforged item.
The full list of changes is in the Gamers Classified change list explainer.
New players will find the game at A$34.99 on the Australian Steam store, as listed this afternoon.
