The off-road game’s first post-launch update is live. It fixes terrain that vanished on some older Nvidia cards and the Pebbles you were not getting for repeat trails.

over the hill has its first update, and you don’t need to do anything to get it. Funselektor Labs’ Steam post went up at 3:49am AEDT on Saturday 17 October (we converted that from 16:49 UTC). The build is Update 26.10.16_57fb763.

If your terrain turned invisible on an older card (the post’s example is Nvidia GTX series), this is your fix. Before, you could work around it with the “-msTessOnce 0” launch option on Steam. The post says the fix is now included for everyone, so “there’s nothing you need to do,” whether or not you used the option.

The second fix is for currency. Completing a recovery mission or challenge trail a second time wasn’t paying out Pebbles, and the post says that is fixed. Meteorite spawn points are adjusted in all areas too, which should make Pebbles easier to collect and your vehicle upgrades easier to afford.

The changelog lists more. Camera collision logic is reworked, and the HUD settings gain a streamer mode that hides the room code in the lobby and pause menu. Weather effects now speed up correctly when you camp, and the centre of mass on The Ding is adjusted.

On the fix side, the notes say that loading no longer hangs forever when a client takes a portal after camping in the same session. They also cover tents disappearing on a second camp in quick succession and some achievements that could not be unlocked by players who tried the Next Fest demo.

Steam’s Australian store page lists the game at A$34.39, which is 20 per cent off A$42.99. It is out on Windows and Linux. We covered the launch and its price earlier this week.

The studio says more bug fixes, quality of life improvements and features are already in the works. Check the Steam news page for the next one.
