Battlefield 6 update 2.1.1.0 opens for download at 7pm AEDT tonight, Tuesday 13 October. Season 5, Siege of Vegas, goes live four hours later, at 11pm.
The times come from the update’s Steam announcement. It says the download opens from 8.00 UTC on all platforms, which is 7pm AEDT. Season 5 content becomes available at 12.00 UTC, which is 11pm AEDT. We converted both times ourselves.
So start the download before dinner and you will be ready at 11pm. Our earlier report on the Season 5 trailer covers the first look at Vegas.
Here is what arrives with the season. There are two new maps, Vegas Strip and Area 51. REDSEC gets Rapid Royale, which the post describes as having a lower player count, airdrops with some of the best loot in the game and the fastest ring of fire.
Ranked Battle Royale also officially launches with the season, with redesigned Ranked badges and new rewards. There are four new weapons as well: the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR personal defence weapon, the Z84M light machine gun and the ELR-40 bolt-action sniper rifle.
The Season 5 Battle Pass has six instant unlocks, four themed paths and more than 100 tiers. The update also tunes vehicles and mobile anti-air. A developer note in the post says the aim is faster shells with less dispersion.
Next, mark the free trial. From 15 to 19 October, Battlefield 6 is free to play on PlayStation and Steam, with every available map and mode open. The post adds that conditions apply and that the trial period may vary by platform, so check the retailer.
The post gives no start time for the trial. On Steam in Australia the full game costs A$109.95, and it was not discounted when we checked.
The Dead Space: Convergence Event follows from 20 October to 7 November. Its Marker Incursion mode is a 16-player PvE experience, according to the post. Our Week Ahead guide lists the other dates for this week.
Set an alarm for 7pm, then drop in at 11pm.
