Area 51, Rapid Royale And Ranked Battle Royale Arrive Next Week

Battlefield 6 Season 5 begins on 13 October, and it takes the war to Las Vegas. Electronic Arts shared the Season 5 gameplay trailer from the official Battlefield channel on Steam early on Wednesday 7 October, Australian time.

The trailer description promises three new maps across the season, including Vegas Strip and Area 51. They run “from casinos and rooftops to open desert and secret underground tunnels”.

On Area 51, EA’s Steam post says players will “Defend highly classified secrets”.

Six new weapons and two new vehicles join the arsenal. Players can also take on Operation High Roller, climb the MP Leaderboards and form Platoons.

Two older maps come back too, with updated versions of Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City.

The free-to-play side of the game, REDSEC, gets Rapid Royale. The description calls it “a new free-to-play mode built for faster, more aggressive Battle Royale”, where kills earn redeploys.

Ranked Battle Royale also officially launches, alongside the Open Series competition.

A limited-time Halloween event follows. According to the Steam post, it is a Dead Space event featuring “a mysterious artifact that threatens to corrupt the world in a new PVE experience”.

Neither the description nor the Steam post gives a start time for Australia.

Ahead of the season, Battlefield 6 is 50% off on Steam in Australia, down from A$109.95 to A$54.97. The Phantom Edition is 35% off at A$97.46, and both offers end at 4am AEDT on Friday 9 October.

REDSEC itself is free to play, so the new mode costs nothing to try when the season goes live.

The same trailer has also gone up on the Xbox and PlayStation YouTube channels.

Battlefield 6 is developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts. Its Steam page gives a release date of 10 October 2025, so Season 5 arrives three days after the game’s first anniversary.
