First Look At Apex Legends: Cipher
The official Apex Legends channel has posted the gameplay trailer for Apex Legends: Cipher, and EA shared it on Steam at 2:14am AEDT on Friday, by our conversion.
The accompanying Steam post opens with the season’s pitch: “In this Arena, the deadliest weapon isn’t a gun, it’s information.”
Crypto is the centre of it. The post says his new firmware upgrade brings a battery-powered Surveillance Drone that tags on sight, plus a rewired EMP Ultimate.
EA’s Cipher season page adds that the upgrade comes from his sister Mila, and shifts Crypto’s playstyle to an aggressive intel-gatherer.
The season also adds the dual Akimbo Wingman, which the post pitches as a way to double your firepower. Strongholds are vaults packed with high-value gear and EVO, protected by a very loud alarm.

Revenant gets what the page calls aggressive updates, and Lifeline gets faster healing. Legend Bans arrive in Diamond lobbies and above, where the Legends with the most votes have the greatest chance of being banned for that match.
The page also mentions the Cipher Premium Battle Pass Split 1, and says a Major Ranked Update is slated for Season 32. Legend banning was first set out in the ranked roadmap earlier this month.
The season page lists Apex Legends as a free download on the EA app, Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Neither the Steam post nor the season page gives a start date for Cipher, so the trailer is the clearest look at it until EA names one.
