Coin Crew Games says Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is coming to PS5 on 5 November, and that its campus is now open world.
The studio gave the date in a PlayStation Blog post on Tuesday 13 October, written by its art director, Michelle Huttunen. It says the sequel expands the first game from a more linear narrative to a whole new open-world campus, with “couch or online co-op play available from the get go”.
The post is also a pitch to newcomers — “Whether you played the first game or not, Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is open to everyone and represents a more fully-realized campus experience.”
The detail is about the campus itself. Huttunen describes the Headmaster’s Tower as one of the first spaces the team worked on, and says the work led the team back to the Headmaster’s Office, the setting of the first game’s first escape.
The Humanities Campus has changed most from the first game’s 2D map layout, Huttunen writes, and part of it had to be rebuilt after the first game’s story. The post calls its look cosier than the Science Campus, which it describes as rough, gritty and industrial, or the colourful Arts Campus.
The post says players will not reach the Humanities Campus straight away. They will see a keyhole-shaped fountain from the best sightseeing spots, and the team hid keyhole embellishments around the Academy.
The design idea is that exploration should pay off. “Puzzles aren’t strictly limited to rooms anymore. This campus itself will reward you for staying curious.”
On Steam the game is listed for Windows with a November 2026 date and no price, with Coin Crew Games as developer and iam8bit Presents as publisher.
Beyond the PS5 date, the post gives no price and no dates for other platforms, and it closes with “Stay tuned for more updates about the game.”
