Valve has added a new hero to Deadlock, and he plays the city like a chessboard.
Solomon went live on Saturday, announced in a Steam post titled Make Your Move. at 8am AEDT.
Valve timed him for National Chess Day, according to the post.
Each of his four abilities is named for a chess move. The post sets them out in a single paragraph.
“With Setup Bishop he advances, planting his loyal damage dealers ahead of him and sliding them across the streets with ease. Kingside Knight comes into play when it’s time for defense, granting protection to allies and making tactical retreats when needed. Rook Battery charges forward with great force, stalling enemies in their tracks. And with his final move, Develop Queen, he locks down his enemies in an ultimate checkmate.”

The post gives no numbers for damage, cooldowns or durations. Those will have to come from the game itself.
It does give him a line. “There’s a lot you can learn from losing to a master.”
Solomon follows Baba, the pigeon lady, who arrived on Wednesday. Both came out of the community vote that decides which heroes join the game.
The vote is not finished. Valve says it is halfway through the current set.

The next hero picked by the vote is due on Tuesday at 2pm PDT, which is 8am AEDT on Wednesday 14 October.
Deadlock is still listed on Steam as a multiplayer game in early development, with no release date announced.
