The vote is in, and Central Park’s pigeon lady won it. Baba joined the roster this morning, and Valve has pushed the end of the first Ranked season back to November.
The second City Never Sleeps hero in Deadlock is Baba. Valve posted the news just before 8am AEDT on Wednesday 7 October, and it says Baba and her pigeons are available now. Valve also called the vote “a close contest”.
She is the pigeon lady of New York, and she fights from her park bench. Her Threadsap is a spool of yarn that steals her enemies’ spirit and makes her stronger. The bench itself comes to life, so she can run, jump and kick. Then come Baba’s Brews, “some of them much sweeter than others”, and finally The Birds.
Baba follows the Rat King, who arrived on 2 October as the first hero from the City Never Sleeps vote. He has already been pared back in a minor update. Four heroes are left on the update page: Nurse Harrow, Deadman Danny, Solomon and Violet.
Your votes still decide the order. You vote in the Pregame lobby, and the winning team’s votes count double. Your first win of the day doubles your votes too, so play a match tonight if you want a say.
The next hero arrives on Friday at 2pm PDT. That is 8am AEDT on Saturday 10 October, 7am in Brisbane and 5am in Perth.
Valve has also moved the end of the first Ranked season. It now finishes on Thursday 5 November at 2pm US Pacific time, which is the morning of Friday 6 November here. The next season starts straight after, so you have longer to climb than first planned.
Deadlock is still in development, and its Steam page lists the release date as to be announced.
