Valve Opens An Eldritch Treasure With Two Arcanas And A New Roshan
Valve has released the Trove of Terror in Dota 2. The treasure went live with a post on Steam at 11:22am AEDT on Wednesday 7 October, titled Inside the Trove of Terror.
The post describes fifteen new item sets, all themed around “eldritch and otherworldly designs”. Valve calls the treasure “overflowing” with Immortal item sets.
Two Arcanas sit at the top of the treasure. One is new, and one is returning.
The returning Arcana is for Drow Ranger. According to Valve, she can look as she once did or take on “a grave-stalking new form”.
The new one is the Maw of the Megalodon for Tidehunter. It comes with a new model, custom animations, effects, taunts and voice lines.
The Tidehunter Arcana also drags along “a familiar-looking corpse”, which the post calls part security blanket and part snack. It hides three designs in all, and the post teases them in its own voice: “Should one master this Arcana’s secrets, one would surely unlock all three of its shark-toothed designs.”

Opening more treasures brings extra rewards. Open enough and a new Tormentor appearance is guaranteed.
Open more still and the reward is a new look for Roshan, described as “an incomprehensible new design”.
The post gives no price for the treasure and no end date. Valve says only that players should launch the game to learn more.
Dota 2 is free to play on Steam, and it sat second on Steam’s most-played chart when checked on Wednesday afternoon.
