Pre-Order Early Access Confirmed For Campaign And DMZ

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players who pre-order digitally will get in before launch, and the early access comes in two stages.

The dates are in a DMZ deep dive posted to the game’s Steam page at 3:50am AEDT on Saturday.

Early access to the Campaign starts on Friday 16 October. Early access to all of DMZ follows from Tuesday 20 October.

Both come ahead of the full launch on 23 October. Both are for players who have digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased the game.

No start times were given. The post’s fine print says play time is subject to “possible outages and applicable time zone differences”, and that platform availability and start dates are subject to change.

On Steam, the benefit applies to the Standard Digital Edition and the Vault Edition. The Australian Steam store lists Modern Warfare 4 at A$109.95 and the Vault Edition at A$149.95.

DMZ is described in the post as Call of Duty’s “definitive extraction shooter experience”, with persistent progression and an open-world combat environment.

Squads deploy into Hajin, loot, craft and fight AI forces and rival Operators, then try to exfil with their rewards. Between deployments, the Forward Operating Base is home.

The same post walks through each station at the FOB, from the 3D Printer to the Bounty Leaderboard. Those details were covered in an earlier DMZ explainer.

What the post confirms for the first time is the order. The story comes first, on 16 October, and the extraction mode follows four days later.
