Respawn has fixed a bug that wiped Apex Legends settings on Steam every time the game was relaunched, and its notes say players in APAC were hit hardest.
The fix is the first item in the Apex Legends: Latest Update 10/02/2026 notes, posted to Steam on 2 October. The same notes also trim the Fast Draw Wild Card, the one balance change listed beneath the fix.

Respawn ties the settings bug to folder structures and installation locations. Its description of the fix, in full, reads:
“Resolved an issue impacting Steam users that resulted in settings being reset after every relaunch of the game. This was largely impacting players with unique folder structures and Apex installation locations, most commonly seen in APAC.”
The notes do not say how long the bug had been live, or whether settings lost to it can be recovered. Australian and New Zealand players fall inside APAC, so the fix lands on this region’s Steam players most of all.

The balance change is listed under “Adjusted”, with two lines for the Fast Draw Wild Card: “Reload Time Reduction Benefit Reduced to 25% from 35%” and “Consumable Use Time Reduction Benefit Reduced to 25% from 50%”. That halves the consumable benefit and takes ten percentage points off the reload benefit.
The update follows Respawn’s ban of a suspected server crasher over a Ballistic exploit, reported here on 3 October.
