Version 7.2, Hour of Ruin, is live, and Snezhnaya just got bigger. Here is what is new, and what you need to claim before Saturday morning.
Genshin Impact Version 7.2 went live after maintenance scheduled to begin at 06:00 UTC+8 on 4 November, which was 9am AEDT by our conversion. HoYoverse’s update details list two new areas, two new Archon Quest acts and a new 4-star. The App Store in Australia now lists version 7.2.0, so update the app if it hasn’t happened on its own.
The new areas are Novokitezhgrad and Wingspan Peak in Snezhnaya. Finish “Gunfire in the Silent Lands” in Chapter VII: Act I and a Teleport Waypoint northeast of Fellfrost Peak unlocks, which gets you there. Two Meeting Points arrive with them, Teplo Oasis and the Royal Railway Transport Bureau.
The story continues with Chapter VII: Act V, “Hour of Ruin”, and Act VI, “A Yesterday Sent From Beyond”. You need Adventure Rank 18, and you need to have finished Act IV. Both stay in the game permanently.
Valeriy is the new 4-star, an Electro sword user the notes describe as a support who gives Electro buffs and shields. Mitya, the 5-star Electro catalyst, launches with the version too, and our Phase I report has the wishes. The shooter-style combat gets two shotguns from World Quests, Sosruko’s Flame and Apsat’s Mountain Hunt, and three new Edge of Survival stages.
Watch for the Wavebinder in Novokitezhgrad. It drinks a hot drink to build Courage, then turns more aggressive with higher resistances, and Electro damage or Stellar Glimmer reactions wear that Courage down.
Now the claims. Travellers at Adventure Rank 5 or above by the start of maintenance get 300 Primogems for the maintenance and 300 more for issue fixes, by in-game mail. Claim the issue-fix compensation before 06:00 UTC+8 on 7 November, which is 9am AEDT on Saturday. The maintenance compensation lasts until the end of Version 7.2.
The endgame resets come later. Spiral Abyss Phase 1 changes on 16 November and Phase 2 on 16 December. Imaginarium Theater gets a new season on 1 December, with Pyro, Hydro and Geo as the required elements. The notes give dates only for these, so there are no Australian times.
HoYoverse’s known issues post says Mitya’s scarf can display abnormally, mainly at C6, with a fix in a future update. Genshin Impact was tenth on Apple’s Australian top-grossing games chart and second on China’s when the feeds were read this morning.
