What The Early Access Build Of Loftia Adds

Loftia, the cosy MMO from Qloud Games, opened in Steam Early Access on 3 November. On the Australian Steam store it is A$33.19 with 17% off, down from A$39.99, and the studio says the launch discount runs for two weeks.

The game was among the Australian store’s top sellers early this morning. Qloud Games develops and publishes it, and describes itself on its own site as “our small indie team”.

The studio’s Early Access page sets out what has changed since the Steam Next Fest demo, which started players in Loftia City with farming, decorating and adventures.

New Districts

Two districts open up in Early Access. The Hanging Gardens is a floating island with fishing spots, community farms and what the page calls “a mysterious dark forest”.

Gridfall is the salvaging district, described as “a concrete jungle built from scraps and love on the remains of the old world”, with air rails, a museum and underground tunnels.

New traversal tools come with them: a Propeller upgrade for the Glider, Bounce Shoes and rail boots. Fishing uses the Collector Rod, and Research Stations take in local plants and animals.

Pets And Proficiencies

Pets can be adopted, dressed up and befriended. Proficiencies such as farming, crafting, cooking and fishing go past the demo’s Level 5 cap, with Perks to spend points on.

Farming adds Hydroponics Stations and Community Farms with leaderboards, and more World Projects are planned, including rebuilding the Loftia City Dome.

The Shop And The Pass

The Backer Boutique sells cosmetics only, at US$2 to US$4 an item and up to US$8 for a full outfit, with regional pricing. The page says 93% of all cosmetics at launch are unlocked through play, and that “Loftia will not have gacha mechanics”.

The Community Pass unlocks extra cosmetic rewards from World Projects, and those rewards do not expire.

Loftia is online only, on PC and Mac through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with Steam Deck support. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for 2027.

The studio’s launch post promises new NPCs, islands, a Study Cafe and Clubs over “the next year or so of Early Access”.
