The Play-In Stage of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship opens on Thursday 15 October in Los Angeles. In Sydney that means a 5am start on Friday, so set an alarm now.
Riot’s Worlds 2026 Primer splits the event into three stages: the Play-In Stage from 15 to 18 October, the Swiss Stage from 23 to 31 October and the Knockout Stage from 3 to 14 November. Every Play-In series is a best-of-five, and the primer says they begin at 11am PDT, which is 5am AEDT the next morning. That puts your Play-In mornings on Friday 16, Saturday 17, Sunday 18 and Monday 19 October.
Here is what you will see first, according to Riot’s official schedule. FURIA play MVK Esports at 5am AEDT on Friday 16 October, and Cloud9 Kia face Karmine Corp at 10am AEDT the same day. Both series are best-of-five, and the schedule lists the later Play-In series as to be decided, so the other pairings are not known yet.
The primer lists 19 qualified teams, with four from the LPL, four from the LCK, and three each from the LEC, LCS and LCP. CBLOL has two. Of the four teams on that first day, FURIA come from CBLOL, Cloud9 Kia from the LCS, Karmine Corp from the LEC and MVK Esports from the LCP.
If you follow our region, the primer lists the LCP under Asia Pacific, with Team Secret Whales and CTBC Flying Oyster alongside MVK Esports. It does not give any of the three a home country. Our report on the 2027 rebuild of the LCP explains where Oceania fits, and our Champions Shanghai report covers how Pacific teams fared in VALORANT.
Pencil in the later dates too, which we converted from the times in Riot’s primer. The Swiss Stage opens on Friday 23 October at 12pm CDT in Allen, Texas, which is 4am AEDT on Saturday 24 October, and Swiss matches are best-of-one or best-of-three.
The Quarterfinals start on Tuesday 3 November at 4pm CST, which is 9am AEDT on Wednesday 4 November, and the whole Knockout Stage is best-of-five. The Grand Final is in Brooklyn on Saturday 14 November at 2pm EST, which is 6am AEDT on Sunday 15 November.
Set your first alarm for 5am on Friday 16 October, when FURIA meet MVK Esports.
