Alientrap’s Crab Crawler Adventure Dated For PlayStation 5

DuneCrawl is coming to PS5 on Monday 19 October, with cross-play support. PlayStation posted the release trailer on its YouTube channel at 8pm AEDT on Monday, and the date and the cross-play detail both come from its description.

The game is an open-world action-adventure set on the “sandy seas”. According to the description, players ride atop a gigantic crustacean “festooned with black powder cannons”.

It can be played solo as a Crab Keeper, or with a crew of up to three friends in local and online co-op. The Steam page says solo players get “a bit of help from a ghostly companion” instead of a crew.

Crews steer their Dune Crawler across the desert to dozens of islands, where there are quests to complete, secret dungeons to explore and loot to collect. On board, the job is loading cannonballs, repairing damaged legs and launching across the gap for boarding actions.

The story pits the Polloi pilgrims against the invading Ceramicist, with the jar-headed Vassals in the way. Crews take on other crawlers, giant bosses and island fortresses, along with hordes of wild bugs.

New abilities come from collecting Masks, Tunics and Talismans. Weapons on the list include the Buzzooka and the Acid Harpoon, and the local wildlife can be turned on enemies too, in the form of Bomb Flowers, Beehives and Spider Eggs.

The crawler takes upgrades of its own, such as Spike Armoured legs and Guided Torpedoes. The Steam page also offers the option to “just give her a new hat and sporty paintjob”.

Not every ride is a crab. Beetles with more than one saddle, Nymphs, armoured Scorpions and Ball Bugs can all be ridden.

Developer and publisher Alientrap released DuneCrawl on PC through Steam on 5 January 2026. On Steam it was A$14.75 when checked early on Tuesday 6 October, half its A$29.50 price.

The trailer description does not give a PS5 price, so the Australian PlayStation Store price is not yet known here. The PS5 version arrives in under a fortnight.
