Koei Tecmo Dates Its Three Kingdoms Soulslike Sequel For Early 2027, Across Four Platforms
Koei Tecmo has given Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember a release date of 4 March 2027, revealed during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast.
The game launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Xbox has confirmed Game Pass and Play Anywhere support, which puts it on the service from day one.
That arrival is sooner than the studio’s recent cadence suggested. Team Ninja has kept a heavy release schedule across its action catalogue, and a four-platform simultaneous launch in early March is a tighter turnaround than the original managed.
The mechanical addition announced alongside the date is a system called Insight Skills. Koei Tecmo has not detailed how it resolves in combat beyond naming it, so the shape of it remains an open question until the next showing.
The original Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty arrived in 2023 and built its combat around a deflection window and a morale system rather than the stamina economy most of the genre runs on. It also launched into Game Pass, which is where a large part of its audience found it.
The sequel sat inside a deep Xbox lineup at the show. Koei Tecmo also dated Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories for 25 February 2027, and the action-RPG Edge of Memories for 5 November this year.
For Australian players the Switch 2 inclusion is the practical detail. A day-one handheld version of a Team Ninja action game has not happened before at this scale, and it removes the wait that followed the original’s console release.
Tokyo Game Show itself lost its final day to an approaching typhoon, ending the 30th anniversary run a day early.
