CESA Cancels Monday’s Programme, Ending The Show’s First Five-Day Run A Day Early

Tokyo Game Show 2026 will close on Sunday rather than Monday, after organiser CESA cancelled the final day of the show ahead of an approaching typhoon.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association announced the cancellation on 19 September, citing forecasts of strengthening wind and rain and the transport disruption expected around Makuhari Messe. The organiser gave its reasoning as “attendee, exhibitor, and staff safety”, together with everyone’s safe journey home.

The decision cuts the show’s 30th anniversary edition from five days to four. This year’s event was the first in Tokyo Game Show’s history scheduled to run five days.

Monday’s programme goes with it. Red Bull Revenge had been scheduled to hold the event stage from 9.40am to 2.20pm JST, with the show’s Ending Stage to follow in the afternoon.

CESA has said some of the cancelled stage events may still be streamed online, with further detail to come through the show’s official channels.

Sunday 20 September proceeds as planned. The organiser has warned that some facilities and content may still change depending on conditions on the day.

The Japan Game Awards 2026 Future Division ceremony, which honours titles that have not yet released, holds its place at 1pm JST on Sunday. That is 2pm AEST for anyone following from Australia.

The day’s closing TGS News Studio broadcast follows at 9pm JST, or 10pm AEST, and streams across the show’s seven partner platforms, YouTube and Twitch among them.

Ticket holders are treated differently depending on the day they hold. Monday tickets will be refunded through whichever platform each was purchased on. Sunday tickets are not refundable.

The show had otherwise run at full scale. CESA counted 759 exhibitors across 3,946 booths from 51 countries, with attendance across the run expected to approach 300,000.
