The Blood of Dawnwalker’s first big patch is due in early October. It adds a new easiest difficulty, removes the target switching that happens when you stun a crowd, and starts fixing how you escape combat.
Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz outlined the update in an interview with Eurogamer. He said it should land somewhere near the start of October and will deliver a lot of upgrades.
What changes in your next session
A new easiest difficulty. It sits below the current Story setting, which will be renamed to something along the lines of Demanding. Tomaszkiewicz says it is for players who want the story without the combat challenge.
No more target switching after stuns. At the moment, using a stun on a group can move your lock-on to a different enemy. That was deliberate; Tomaszkiewicz found it handy in testing for stunning some enemies and then turning to others. Players did not like it, so it is going.
Getting out of a fight. Rebel Wolves did not expect players to run from combat as often as they do. A temporary fix already lets you ignore the navigation mesh to get away, and the team is working on a bigger change to running in and escaping from combat.
And after that
Tomaszkiewicz confirmed the studio is exploring New Game Plus. Asked about new enemies, he said there was a chance but that he could not say more without upsetting the publishing team.
Dawnwalker has had a strong first month. It passed a million copies in its first week, on a reported budget of around US$40 million, and Rebel Wolves has said it is already working on the next chapter of the saga.
