Valve Patches Team Fortress 2 Exploit And Updates Eight Maps
Valve has released a Team Fortress 2 update that fixes an exploit where the Dragon’s Fury could crash a server. Its Steam announcement was posted at 5:43am AEDT on Tuesday 13 October, and it says the update “will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2”.
The crash fix reads “Fixed an exploit where the Dragon’s Fury could crash the server”. A separate fix repairs a regression in the Sandwich Diner war paint.
The cosmetic changes are small. Valve added a “No Grenades” style for the General’s Greatcoat and updated the style names for The Damage Dealer, and two Unusual effects, Flor de Muerto and Electric Impulse, were changed to fix clutter and visibility issues.
The Hat of Undeniable Wealth and Respect was updated to fix a missing BLU skin and low-resolution materials. The in-game item importer now supports the Medic’s backpack bodygroup.

Eight maps were updated in all. On koth_sawmill_event, Valve added portals that spawn for the team that loses the point in their own respawn room, and fixed the RED teleport spawn being unusable by clients.
The same map also had fixes for random particles not working on cap and for clipping on the roof near the RED spawn.
koth_trainsawlaser got improved overall performance and slightly lowered respawn times. It also gained missing nobuilds on rooftops and under the stairs on each side, and Valve fixed being able to shoot through balcony railings.
Six zi_ maps were updated as well: zi_atoll, zi_blazehattan, zi_devastation_final1, zi_murky, zi_sanitarium and zi_woods. The notes list fixes for Zombie ability icons turning into a white line between level changes, and for the Heal ability icon creating a gray line on the screen.
The announcement does not give a version number or a date for the next update. Team Fortress 2 is free to play on Steam, where Valve is listed as developer and publisher.
