The Switch 2 demo had frame generation locked on, and players noticed. SHIFT UP says the full game will ship with a toggle so you can choose for yourself.
Demo feedback on the Stellar Blade Complete Edition for Switch 2 has changed the launch build. SHIFT UP posted on X overnight that a frame generation toggle will be in the game at release.
The studio said it had “been watching your feedback closely and decided to add a Frame Generation toggle at release.” It framed the change as a choice for players about what looks and feels best.

In the demo there was no way to switch it off. Nintendo Life reports that frame generation was mandatory there, with no setting to change. That changes on launch day.
So what does the toggle actually give you? Frame generation interpolates extra frames between the ones the console renders. The trade is smoother motion against the risk of visual artefacts. Players now pick which one bothers them more.
Stellar Blade is not alone here. Capcom is doing the same with Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Switch 2. Producer Naoto Oyama told Famitsu, in a translation by Nintendo Everything, that the game targets 30fps in handheld and TV modes, and that frame generation gives visuals “equivalent to 60 FPS”. Nintendo Life’s report on that interview notes the final game can turn it on and off, while its demo also has it fixed on.

Oyama was frank about the downside. He said Capcom has “confirmed cases where a slight ghosting effect remains”, but judged the overall experience would not be significantly impaired.
The demo is still up. Nintendo’s product page lists it as free, so play a stretch now and decide which way you will set the toggle on day one.
Stellar Blade Complete Edition launches on Switch 2 on 5 November 2026.
