Probably Stolen has sold half a million copies, according to its developer — in the days since its 28 October Steam release.

Questing Goose Studio announced the figure in a Steam post at 5:59am AEDT on Saturday 31 October, by our conversion. “Probably Stolen continues to grow and we are now sitting at half a million units sold!” the studio wrote.

The post lists three numbers: 500,000 shopkeepers in the game, 96% positive reviews from nearly 3,000 Steam reviews, and 12th place on Steam’s global most-played chart. Those are the studio’s own figures, and Gamers Classified has not checked the sales number.

Gamers Classified reported the studio’s 200,000 milestone on Friday. The new post says the team is still stunned by the previous day’s numbers, which is why the milestone posts keep coming.

The studio credits its playtesters for the shape of version 1.0. “A lot of 1.0 is what it is because of the feedback and surveys you shared after playing the demo and participating in our playtests,” the post says, before asking players to keep reporting bugs.

Thirteen hours later came update 1.0.0.6, a security update for the modding system. The patch notes carry a warning for anyone running mods: “This update makes changes to the modding system to improve security. Some mods may break and will need to be updated by their authors.”

The same update adds a “Menu / Back” key binding in Options — a second key that does everything Esc does.

The game is A$22.49 on the Australian Steam store, 10% off A$24.99. It was fourth on Steam’s Australian top sellers in the early hours of Sunday, when the chart was read.

Steam lists tinyBuild as publisher. The milestone post also praises “the amazing modding community” and shows off fan-made art — the same community that update 1.0.0.6 now asks to update its mods.
