Isles Of Abyss Adds Five Ocean Regions And Ship Building To The PS5 Version
Once Human‘s largest free expansion yet, Isles of Abyss, was due to launch on PlayStation 5 on 22 October. The date comes from a PlayStation Blog post by the game’s lead designer.
The post is dated 21 October and bylined Vincent Tao, lead game designer on Once Human. Its title says the expansion “launches on PS5 tomorrow”.
It adds five new oceanic regions. Players wake on a starter island and can explore the other four in any order.
The post describes the ocean as “a massive, conscious entity known as “The Sunken Lord.”” Staring lighthouses called The Tower and ghost ships called Voyagers act as its organs and manifestations.

Regional threats include fogs, black tides and skies raining temporal fire. Regional bosses sit in colossal towers, and players eventually face the Sunken Lord itself.
Ships are built and upgraded into a Sea Fortress, which the post calls a forward base, workshop and artillery platform. Players can team up to form fleets.
Land and sea progression feed each other. Island resources fuel naval gear, and deep-sea materials improve land gear and base progression. An underwater layer adds sunken ruins, aquatic resources and deep-sea hunting.

On PS5 the post lists DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers on naval cannons and grappling lines, and fast SSD loading.
It calls the expansion free and free-to-play. It gives no launch time and no store listing, and we did not check an Australian one. We have not played it, so this is a report on a developer post, not a review.
The post asks players to download Once Human from the PlayStation Store ahead of the launch.
