ION LANDS Opens The Doors To Its City On The Sea
Nivalis Nights is out now on Steam. Developer ION LANDS confirmed the launch in a Steam announcement on 29 September, calling it the result of “years of hard work”.
The game released at 3pm UTC on 29 September, which was 1am on 30 September in Sydney. It is published by 505 Games.
On the Australian Steam store it is currently A$33.25, down from A$36.95. The studio says the 10% launch discount runs “for a limited time”.
Nivalis Nights is a slice-of-life simulation set in a cyberpunk city that, in the studio’s words, “stretches from the sea to the clouds”.
Players start small with a noodle stand and work up to running restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Ingredients can be bought at local markets, grown at home or caught from the sea.
The city can be explored on foot, by public transit and taxi, or by boat across its canals. Fishing, home decorating and buying apartments are all part of the day.
The Steam page also describes a district under pressure from CorpSec crackdowns and a mysterious serial killer. After curfew, players can sabotage rivals, with the warning that “What happens to them, can happen to you as well”.
There is room for relationships too. The announcement says players can form friendships with the locals “and maybe find love”, and the store page adds a cyberpunk chess tournament.
Interest was high before launch. On 17 September, ION LANDS said the game had passed one million wishlists on Steam.
The launch announcement confirms Nivalis Nights is available on GeForce NOW. It will not have full Steam Deck support at launch, although the studio says it is already working on improving that experience.
The Steam page lists an SSD as required, even at the minimum PC specification, so it is worth checking drive space before buying.
