Low And Alone Head For The Lighthouse
Little Nightmares III – The Shores is out now. It is the second DLC chapter for Supermassive Games’ co-op horror adventure, and Bandai Namco’s Steam announcement set its release for 30 September.
On the Australian Steam store, The Shores costs A$11.95 on its own.
Little Nightmares III follows two friends, Low and Alone, trying to escape a place called the Nowhere. Its Steam page says it can be played in two-player online co-op, or solo with an A.I. partner.
The first DLC, The Backstage, arrived in June. It separated the pair, sending Low behind the curtains of The Carnavale to find Alone, with a new companion, Dime, and her Torch Hat lighting the way.
The Shores picks up from there. The Steam page says Low and Alone, “reunited, traveled through the mirror”, and that without Dime “it’s once again just the two of them”.
Their destination is a flooded town where the sea rules. The announcement describes “A place ruled by the sea. A place swallowed by fog. A place where something hungry lurks.”
The goal is the lighthouse, which the store page says Low’s map points them towards. Standing in the way are flooded streets, dark sewers and leeches.
The chapter’s antagonist is The Leech Monster. According to the Steam page, it “seems to care for” the leeches that thrive in the town, and anyone who strays too close is unlikely to escape.
Water is the main hazard. To reach the lighthouse, Low and Alone have to dive into the sewers, past “Cracking valves, sharp propellers, and submerged rooms”, which the page says demand “every second of breath and every ounce of strength”.
The Shores is also part of the Secrets of The Spiral Expansion Pass, which is A$22.95 on Steam. The pass covers both DLC chapters and adds the Ferryman Costumes Set for Low and Alone.
Because the pass includes The Shores, the store page warns buyers to “take care to avoid duplicate purchases”.
Both chapters are add-ons for the base game. Little Nightmares III itself is currently A$53.91 on the Australian Steam store, down from A$92.95.
