Red Raketa Studio’s Musical Platformer Reaches Nintendo Switch
Kalanoro is out now on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo of America posted the game’s launch trailer on 28 September, with a description that opens “Play Kalanoro now on Nintendo Switch”.
The game is developed by Red Raketa Studio and published by New Tales. The Steam page calls it an action-adventure platformer about building a band of lemur artists.
It is set on the island of Lemuria, in a world the Steam page says is “inspired by Madagascar’s folklore”. Once a paradise, the island now suffers under the rule of the witch Raneny.
The story turns on a concert. According to the trailer’s description, Raneny has decided to host a huge concert with the island’s most famous band, and the player is sent to fight back by rallying legendary musicians to the cause.
The same description says players “Dash through diverse biomes”, save and befriend locals to form a crew, and jump over industrial platforming traps on the way to becoming the top band in Lemuria.
Combat is fast-paced and uses “hair-based powers and improvised weapons (slippers included)”. The description also promises boss battles it calls “epic and groovy”, ending in a confrontation with Raneny herself.
There is a management side as well. The Steam page mentions running the band’s tour bus through mini-games and building the band’s popularity among locals in order to perform on bigger stages.
The PC version arrived on Steam on 24 September. In Australia it is currently A$22.12 there, down from A$29.50.
The Australian price on the Nintendo eShop was not checked for this article, so it is not given here.
