Power Tools & Packed Lunches is out now as a free update on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. It adds a Blow-Vac, a Caulk Launcher and six new consumables, and six old ones are gone.
Dumb Ways to Build has a new free content update. Version 2.0, called Power Tools & Packed Lunches, went live on Steam on 30 September, and the Xbox trailer says it is now available on Xbox Series X|S too.
The full update notes list four new tools, starting with the Blow-Vac, which creates a wind zone that pushes back items and players. Its alt mode sucks in up to three objects, building materials or even players, and launches them out later. The Caulk Launcher fires foam blobs that harden into temporary platforms or pin materials in place.
The Pocket Spring Loaded Platform launches players and objects across obstacles, while the Drumsticks make different sounds depending on what you hit, teammates included.
The lunchbox has changed more than the toolbox. New consumables are Shonky’s Shrinky Drinky, Cup of Concrete, Telekinesis Tonic, Dumbbell Protein Shake, Double Shot Espresso and Coconuts. Cup of Concrete is the one to grab first, because it makes you immune to all damage and knockback, and you can unpin building objects just by touching them.
Six old items are gone: Baked Beans, Cheese, Clod Cola, Lax Lemonade, Putz Protein and Battery Acid. The developer note says they were cut “due to redundancy or where new consumables replace their functionality”. If your crew relied on one, plan around it.

Two changes affect every run. You no longer drop held items when you die, and a teammate’s revive lets you keep them, but a revive at a Port-a-loo drops them where you died. The Nail Gun reticule also changes shape now to show whether a nail will pin an object.
The Expanded Ping System gives you six ping options, and you can feed food items to other players. The Instant Camera takes selfies now, and the brown and gold Item Crates are now Toolboxes, which double as building material.
The 2.0 notes, which follow an earlier preview post, also say the team is working on more content, including a brand-new level.
Haven’t got it yet? It was A$11.89 on Steam and A$11.95 on the Australian Microsoft Store when we checked this evening. It plays with up to four people online, or solo.
