DayZ Badlands Expansion Is Out Now At A$31.45 On Steam

Nasdara Map, Motorbikes And A Full Wipe Arrive With Update 1.30

The DayZ Badlands expansion is out now. Bohemia Interactive’s Steam post announcing it went up at 12:22 UTC on 15 October, which is 11:22pm AEDT.

Steam’s Australian store lists the expansion at A$31.45, which is 10 per cent off A$34.95. The post says it is launching with a 10 per cent discount, and that players who own the base game can also take DayZ Badlands and DayZ Frostline in the Hot & Cool Bundle.

The centrepiece is Nasdara, “a brand-new map built specifically for DayZ.” The post puts it at 267 km² and calls it “the largest terrain we’ve ever worked on for DayZ.”

The post describes an arid spring setting. Large sandstorms roll in, and heatstroke and silicosis join the medical threats. Water is scarce, and the post says it is needed to cool down and to rinse sand from your eyes.

Nearly 5,000 structures can be rebuilt across the land, including wells and irrigation tunnels. The post says they open up new options for both PvP and collaboration.

Motorbikes arrive with ragdoll physics for crashes. They also feed a new loot hunt built on Morse code, in which radio transmissions carry coordinates and access codes to urban bunkers.

The post lists weapons from the classic Lee-Enfield to modern SCR firearms. Wildlife includes mouflons and desert monitors, along with territorial dogs that guard their former owners’ grounds.

The base game gets Update 1.30 alongside it, with motorbikes, select firearms and reworked skins and quality-of-life changes. The post is blunt about one consequence: “Update 1.30 will mark a fresh start for everyone, with a full wipe across all platforms.”

The studio aims to put the first 1.30 patch on Steam’s experimental branch the day after the post, focused on problems that affect modders. “The stable patch on all platforms will follow at a later date.” Seasonal events on select terrains are planned for the coming months.
