FaZe and Fnatic move onto the Grand Final of IEM Katowice after winning their Semi Finals 2-0. FaZe triumphed over Astralis 16-10 on both Cache and Overpass in the best of 3. Fnatic took a more convincing win over Liquid in their best of 3 16-3 on Inferno and 16-7 on Mirage. These two teams will now face each other in the Grand Final later tonight. The prize pool for this Intel Extreme Masters is $500,000 (USD), a number in the future we would like to see our own IEM Sydney award.
To get here teams went through the groups stages before the playoffs with the results as follows:
Despite going down to Fnatic in the group stage, FaZe will be looking for revenge in this final. FaZe come in as strong favourites for the win, currently ranked #1 team in the world. Fnatic come in 9th at present but could climb the rankings if they win against FaZe. As Fnatic’s newest member and in game leader, Golden will be looking to prove he has brought the tactical prowess and finishing power that Fnatic has so sorely been lacking for some years now. After replacing olofmeister who went to FaZe last year, winning could prove that for Golden and bring Fnatic back to their dominating days in early CSGO tournaments. The last time these two teams met outside of this tournament was at the Boston Major. FaZe beat Fnatic 16-8 on Cache, going on to place 2nd behind Cloud 9. Can FaZe do it again or will Fnatic cause an upset and show us why they have the most Major wins under their belt?
The best of 5 final will begin tonight at 3am AEDT so most of us will probably be watching the reruns in the morning. Who is your money on to win?
