It seems that Square Enix is having a tough time keeping their next Tomb Raider game a secret. Earlier today, the teaser trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider was leaked onto Facebook and Twitter.
As per usual with trailer leaks, the quality is pretty terrible. The trailer features Lara doing her usual thing. Running through jungle settings, taking out guys with guns and exploring ancient temples. Unfortunately, the Shadow of the Tomb Raider teaser trailer featured no gameplay. It mainly consisted of CG and offered nothing we wouldn’t expect from the franchise at this point. Most importantly, the trailer confirms a release date for 14 December 2018.
This leak is just the latest in a series of goofs leading up to the announcement of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The first leak came after a passenger on a subway covertly took a photo of a laptop which displayed details about the game. After that, design illustrations were leaked which detail a possible setting for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Now, Square Enix created a website counting down to the release of this trailer, but it has leaked ahead of schedule. I bet the marketing team are not too happy.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the third entry in the rebooted Tomb Raider series which chronicles Lara’s origin story. The game is being developed by Eidos Montreal, who have taken over from series developers, Crystal Dynamics.
