Sony is bringing back see-through controllers. The Prism Collection — transparent DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray — opens for pre-orders on 10 November and launches from 4 February 2027.

The details are in Sony’s PlayStation Blog announcement, posted by Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Each colour has what the post calls “a premium glossy sheen”.

Leo Cardoso, from Sony’s Color, Material, and Finish design team, says in the post: “We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.”

His colleague Satoshi Aoyagi says the clear finish runs across the back of the controller, “offering a look at the technology that powers the DualSense controller”, while the orange “subtly takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps”.

Sony lists the controllers at a recommended retail price of US$84.99, €84.99, £74.99 or ¥12,480 including tax. The console covers are US$74.99, €74.99, £64.99 or ¥9,980. No Australian price is given, and GC has not converted one; the post says actual retailer prices may vary.

Pre-orders open on 10 November at 10am local time, directly from PlayStation where available and through participating retailers. Sony’s direct store list covers the US, the UK and nine European countries — Australia is not on it.

The covers are sold directly from PlayStation in those regions, and elsewhere “in limited quantities through select retailers”. Sony adds that the exact launch date and availability may vary by country or region, so Australian timing is not yet confirmed.

Sony also published a Southeast Asia version of the post, which carries the designs but no regional prices or dates.
