Permafrost‘s developers have released a hotfix that clears frozen quests and makes Steam invites work. The notes are in a Steam post from 6:01am AEDT on Monday 12 October.
It follows the launch-week hotfixes we reported after the game came out on 9 October.
The quests
The post opens with the cause.
“Some of you have found quests frozen in place, especially when steps are done in a different order or items get picked up early. We’re following your tracks through the story to see where things break, and we’re digging these blockers out one by one.”
Hopes and Dreams now completes. A save that picked up the glitched recording before the hotfix may still be stuck, and the team says it is working on a fix for those saves in the next patch.
High Frequency can now be finished while Hopes and Dreams is still active.

Anyone who has lost a quest key is told to talk to Anna or Skinwalker for a new one, if it is missing from both the inventory and the reward chest. The post says this helps with Breaking the Radio Silence, The Way Home and Rise Above the Cold.
Multiplayer invites
“Both “Join Game” from the Steam friends list and Steam chat invites work, provided the joining player has already launched the game and is in the main menu UI.”
Smaller fixes
The quest tracker now updates after a language change, and pinning crafting recipes works. Three translation fixes cover Chinese text, Cold Resistance and the time units on building and cooking bars.
The team also lists a fixed crash related to workbench crafting and improved building preview visuals.

The post closes by pointing players to the Known Issues list for workarounds. On Steam in Australia the game was A$30.39 at 20% off when we checked.
