The Xbox One X is hotly anticipated. The most powerful console ever released according to Microsoft. The greatest gamine machine. 4k, HDR, enhanced games, the best gaming has to offer.
Mind boggling sales numbers were expected and mind boggling the sales have been, with Japan selling a record shattering 1639 Xbox One X Consoles.
Yep, just 1639 consoles. For perspective, according to Famitsu, in the same period of time Nintendo sold almost 85000 Switch’s.
Turns out Japan just really doesn’t like Xbox and much prefers the local Sony and Nintendo offerings. Launch sales for the original Xbox One were almost 15 times lower than that of the PS4 and Wii U each.
During the 6-12th November sales period, The Xbox One X was even outsold by the PS Vita at 3,023 units. It was a little sadder for the Xbox One S however which sold just 49 units.
The Playstation 4 (not Pro) even sold almost 24,000 units. Even the 6 year old 3DS sold over 6500 units.
Microsoft shouldn’t be disheartened however as the company is predicted to sell up to 1.5 million consoles around the world before the end of the year. Not a paltry number at all, just not many of those will be in Japan.
