Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Classified R18+ In Australia Ahead Of 8 October Launch
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has been classified R18+ in Australia, for blood and gore, sex scenes and violence, according to its PlayStation Store listing.
The rating means the game will be sold here as planned. Saber Interactive’s first-person horror title launches on 8 October on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
Australian games media had not taken that for granted. Maxi-Geek described it as a game it never expected to release locally, and it arrives weeks after Halloween: The Game was refused classification over a cannabis mechanic.
The PlayStation Store lists the unlock at 12pm UTC on 8 October, which is 11pm AEDT that night.
The price gap
The PlayStation Store has the Standard Edition at $54.95 and the Deluxe Edition at $69.95.
Every other digital storefront is higher. Steam and the Xbox Store both list $64.95 for Standard and $74.95 for Deluxe. The Nintendo eShop has $65.00 and $79.99.
Physical copies carry a $69.95 RRP. When Maxi-Geek checked on 21 September, Big W had all three console versions at $59, JB Hi-Fi and Amazon at $68, and EB Games and The Gamesmen at $69.95.
The Deluxe Edition adds The Nailer melee weapon, three cosmetic skins, a weapon charm, a digital art book, soundtrack and novella, and an ’80s horror movie filter.
The game
Players control Aidan, who uses a puzzle box called the Genesis Configuration to try to free his girlfriend Sunny from the Labyrinth. Pinhead and a cult devoted to the Cenobites are the antagonists.
Combat pairs the box’s abilities with conventional weapons. It is single-player only.
