Following the announcement of this new bundle, Sony made a huge announcement regarding Fortnite. While cross platform play has featured across Xbox, PC, Mac, Switch and Mobile, PlayStation had held out. However, Sony announced this morning that they are launching the PS4 cross-play beta today. They will test their network’s compatibilities with other platforms in their first step towards cross-play. Their aim is to allow for cross platform gameplay, progression and commerce.
“Following a comprehensive evaluation process, SIE has identified a path toward supporting cross-platform features for select third party content. We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution,” stated John Kodera

This is a major policy change for Sony and the company has ensured the community that they will give further updates as to what this means for other games and the future of PlayStation.
