Resident Evil is an zombie themed survival horror game series that puts the player in vulnerable situations. After the major success of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2: Remake released for the Xbox One, PS4 and Steam, the official Resident Evil Twitter announced that the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 4 are coming soon to the Nintendo Switch. These games (along with Resident Evil 2 that sadly has not been announced in retro or remake form for Switch) are some of the most beloved games in the series – now finally coming to a device that you can play anywhere!

Pre-Orders for these three games are set to release on February 28th and we’re lucky enough to get a physical version that seems to include all content on cart… well, sort of. Sadly, for Europe and other PAL Territories, we only get the games digitally, while the U.S. gets a physical cart that includes Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 – Yep, Resident Evil 4 is omitted, a rather odd decision as other game releases of this type usually have the games that don’t fit on the cart as an extra downloadable code included in the package. They should have done something similar to the previous Switch Release (the Resident Evil Revelations 1&2 Pack that Japan and the U.S. received had Revelations 2 as a Digital Download Code) but I guess we’ll take what we can get.

It’s very possible, however, that since Resident Evil 4 is the most popular RE Game, CAPCOM are planning to release a standalone physical of RE4 in the U.S. at a later date. RE4 plays more like a standard third-person shooter than a survival horror game – which for me, makes the earlier releases my go to games, so the omission doesn’t bother me too much. (As mentioned previously, It’s possible all the RE4 fans will get a standalone physical – and even if we don’t or you don’t want to import the game, there’s always the digital copy.) You can follow the progress and updates from the official Resident Evil Twitter as we impatiently await the for the full release on May 21st, 2019.
