Square Enix unveiled the official box art for Kingdom Hearts III at the Toyko Game Show 2018 today. This coincides with a brand new trailer revealing the world of Big Hero 6, filled with superhero robots. The cover art is absolutely gorgeous and fans of the series will only get more hyped. Similar to previous titles, the highly detailed artwork shows off the main characters of the game. There is a clear emphasis on the various trios within the series. First there is Sora, Riku and Kairi, as well as Donald, Goofy and Micky, the series mainstays. Then there is Roxas, Axel and Xion, the Organisation XIII trio from DS spin-off 358/2 Days. The artwork also shows PSP spin-off Birth by Sleep’s Ventus, Terra and Aqua. Lastly there is a lonely Namine and a single heartless. With a distinctly Final Fantasy style, the vibrant colours and incredible detail evoke the series’ poignant beauty.

The artwork comes from reporter and twitter user Wario64, who in his Twitter post revealed that series director, Tetsuya Nomura, drew the artwork himself. The corresponding Big Hero 6 trailer reveals some story details, such as the survival of Organisation XIII, as well as gameplay features, such as a picture mode.

Kingdom Hearts III releases for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 25 January, 2019.

A young bloke living in Sydney who loves to play some games from time to time. Currently studying Media and Communications at Sydney Uni and working as a bartender, I like to play games in my spare time to wind down from a hard day. I play both Xbox and Playstation with some PC gaming occasionally thrown in the mix. Beyond games I'm really into Aussie Rock music, playing guitar and watching footy.
