Qimsar was forced to shutdown PT for PC by Konami. Despite this, the young creator was offered an internship instead.

Qimsar had worked on this port/remake for the Silent Hill Demo for a little over a month. His talent and work had him almost successfully brought PT for PC over to the Unreal Engine.

According to his statement, “I got a phone call that I was expecting at about 5:00 A.M. from someone who worked at Konami. He essentially told me that he was very sorry for being the bearer of bad news, but I would have to take down my remake. I was told that he and many other people at Konami saw and really liked my remake, but legit due to legal issues that were out of his or anybody else’s control really, he had to ask me to take down my remake project.”

He agreed to take down the project and that was pretty much the end of the bad news. Further along his statement, he mentioned how Konami had, “ a strong resurgence of a desire to make legitimate games again.“. On top of that, he was being compensated heavily and praised how Konami was entirely graceful with the situation.

Compensation included some merchandises (which I would assume figurines, posters etc.) and Konami games. The biggest compensation was an internship at Konami. For someone as young as Qimsar, this is perhaps the biggest opportunity very early into their life.

He also states, “I feel like a giant burden (even though I’m the one who chose to do this remake, nobody made me but still) has been lifted off of my shoulders because I can just let it go. I no longer have to worry about if I’m going to get sued or anything because what’s done is done (and what was done ended up being really good for me).”

With all legal matters and a new pathway for Qimsar opened, the future looks bright for the young developer. Sadly, if you were waiting for PT for PC, Qimsar reiterates that the project must be dropped and could no longer work on it (even though many Konami employees praised Qimsar’s work).

Konami did a pretty cool thing for Qimsar and they did not hesitate to provide a massive opportunity for someone who put their heart and soul into something, only to have it shut down. Perhaps in a few years, we will see Qimsar’s name among some of Konami’s new projects.
